Born on March 29th, 1985, in Roswell New Mexican. Gerina Michel Mendoza was her name at birth. Gerina Stevenson, the Mexican mother from Rita Stevenson Stevenson and Alan Stevenson Stevenson was born in Mexico. The mother of two is Mexican American as well as an American through the nationality. From a young age, her desire to be active in sports was strong. Gerina played golf in her first game at the age of 15. Gerina completed her high school studies at Goddard High School. The school won at the New Mexico State Golf Tournament during her time in high school. Along with playing volleyball, she also competed at an official level. 2003, she began studying at The University of Texas. In her senior year she took home the top prize in every competition which she participated in. During her undergraduate career she was crowned Conference USA individual champion player of the year and UTEP Female Athletics Player of the Year.
